At our family home, we have opened up our garden for organised garden tours. In 2019 & 2020 our garden was part of the National Garden Scheme which gives visitors unique access to over 3,500 exceptional private gardens in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Guernsey and raises impressive amounts of money for nursing and health charities through admissions, teas and cake.
"Caebardd Farm - Open Garden for NGS
A meandering garden with established trees and shrubs circling a large pond. Dry stone walls support banks of herbs, wild and herbaceous flowers. Paths lead to hidden Japanese corner with waterfall, bamboos, acers and bridge. A short walk across farmyard takes you to a wild meadow full of wildflowers with paths interlacing to lead onto a raised bed veg plot between orchard and walnut grove."
Due to Covid, last year we did not take part in the NGS open garden and only had small groups of visitors from local garden clubs. The most common question was "How did you get your Hydrangea that colour?" and the answer was Biochar!
Going into 2021 Biochar began to be applied to our garden and we have been thrilled by the results. With COVID continuing we will likely not be taking part in Garden pen days in 2022, instead, we will be expanding the main garden, wildflower meadow walk and improving accessibility to our groves, woodlands and sapling plantations in the hope that 2023 will provide an excellent display for the benefits of Biochar.
Wild flower meadow walk and Lucerne flowering, we had hundreds of butterflies on Lucerne flowers when 23 cut it he had clouds of butterflies flying out of it so we now leave some around the edge of the field for them to feed
