A typical wild boundary between stream and field has recently had a 10-year harvest. Ground plants and wildflowers along with grass will dominate for the first few years creating a natural water filter to protect against runoff after heavy rain. As the willow and alder regrowth canopy establishes it will suppress the ground plants and wildflowers which die down and provide nutrients for the tree regrowth as do the leaves from the trees and then just at the critical point the 10-year harvest takes place and the circle of life starts again.
The Woodtek solution is to provide small to medium-sized power plants located adjacent to communities or industrial processes that can utilize the heat and power produced from our state of the art biochar production. Our plant reduces Co2 emissions by approximately 40% and locks it into a long term C-sink as well as producing a valuable hugely beneficial soil enhancement fertilizer without using any fossil fuel.
The fuel source is locally grown coppice of native species eg willow, alder, hazel, hawthorn, chestnut etc harvested a 10 to 15-year rotation of silvicultural trimmings and clean green garden waste. Normally over 80% of fuel requirements can be sourced sustainably within a 5-mile radius 100% within 10miles.
